Designing a Perfect Pool Table Room

Perfect room for BilliardThe most important consideration when you design a pool table game room is making sure that you have enough space once you put the billiards table in the room. Just because the pool table dimensions doesn’t mean that there is going to be enough space. You want to have at least 5 feet of playing area around the billiards table on all sides so that there is room for even people using longer cue sticks to make shots comfortably. The sides are more important than the ends since most shots are made from the side. There are number of different websites that can help you figure out the minimum amount of space you need for any given pool table size.

Pool_Table_LightOnce you are sure, and you have a big enough pool table room for the billiard table of your choice, you need to figure out what billiard accessories you would like to add to the room in order to make it a fun and comfortable place to play. This includes things like pool cue racks, but also larger things like seating and pool table lighting.

It is best if you have enough seating for the people who will be playing and possibly some guests as well. To get that billiards table hall experience, a lot of people use bar stools instead of just regular chairs, but it is up to you. Bar stools also raise people’s heads above cue stick level so it is less likely you will accidentally poke someone when playing.

After you figure out seating, you will also want to make sure that you get proper pool table lighting. You want the billiard tables to be well lit without a lot of shadows so that you can see to make the proper plays. The type of lights you get might depend on the type of decor that you have in the room, which could be very basic or follow some sort of theme.

Miniature Billiards Pool Table

Miniature Billiards Pool Tables – Great for Small Spaces

There are a lot of people who really love to play pool table games, but don’t have either the space or the money to have a full size pool table in their homes. A great option in these situations is a miniature  billiards pool table. Mini pool tables are available really inexpensively, and they take up very little space.

Most miniature billiards pool tables are made to sit on top of a regular table. They are about half the size of a real pool table, usually about four feet long instead of nine feet long. The best of these tables are sized proportionately so that it still feels like you are playing a regular game of pool. Playing on these billiard tables can be just as fun as playing on the larger, regulation size tables, as many people find out when they give them a try.

Because mini pool tables come at such low prices (usually between $50 and $200), they don’t always come with quite as many extras as some of the larger versions. They pretty much always come with at least two cue sticks, pool chalk, and the pool table balls that you need to play the game. Be sure to check out the quality of the items that you are getting though, since some of the more expensive options come with billiard accessories that break easily and are not all that well made.

The great thing about miniature billiards pool tables is that even kids can easily play since they are smaller in size. Regular pool tables are so tall and the cue sticks are so long that it can be hard for smaller children to play. The mini tables make it so that the whole family can enjoy the game.

Storage is simple with these tables as well since the tables just have very short legs because they sit on regular tables, or else have collapsible legs. It is easy to find the space to keep these tables when they are not in use due to their compact size. You can use them in a game room and leave them out, or pack them up and just take them out when the urge to shoot some pool comes.

Billiards and Barstools – How to Have A Great Bar

Whether you want a bar area for your home for the big game or that special gathering for that special occasion, or if you own your own bar and want to keep it lively as possible, you are sure to need two things. Billiards pool tables and barstools are two near essentials in any bar, as you need a good old game to play, and a place to sit at the bar.

Choosing the right ones for your space is essential. They make billiards tables in sizes ranging from 7 ft to 9 ft, and they make barstools in practically any size and shape.

A barstool should fit a few criteria. First, it needs to be comfy. If I can’t sit down and be comfy and enjoy the game, I might as well be someplace else doing it. It’s that simple really. I prefer the stools with the polyurethane cushions. A barstool with a back on it is also not a bad idea. This can keep people from tipping backwards and falling off their stool (which I’ve seen plenty). Of course if you get a stool with a back then it should also be comfy to lean back in.

The proper barstool depends on the height of the bar. If your bar is high and your stool is too low, you’ll have problems reaching things on the bar. If the stools are too tall for the bar, you won’t be able to fit them. You should measure your space before purchasing the barstools and get the proper size and shape for your bar. Sometimes you can get barstools relatively inexpensively, if not for free. I found a nice set outside for some body’s garbage, and they are practically brand new. Try some place like salvation army or discount furniture if you are looking for a cheaper alternative.

Depending on your space, you might want to go with other key features on barstools. Stackable versions offer space saving benefits. A metal barstool offers more stability and strength. Some wood stools have been known to crack under pressure. An adjustable height barstool keeps you proper even if your bar goes under changes.

You can make them taller or shorter depending on the height of the bar itself. These and other features are things to consider when purchasing barstools for your bar.
